Our Visit to CelcomDigi AiX

A robot waved at me—and that wasn’t even the most futuristic part. Here’s what we learned (and felt) during our visit to CelcomDigi’s AI Experience Centre, and how it’s shaping the creative-tech journey at UOW Malaysia.

On February 21, 2025, I had the exciting opportunity to coordinate and lead a student industry visit to the CelcomDigi AI Experience Centre (AiX)—a place that redefines the boundaries of digital innovation and creativity. Open to students from the School of Creative Media and Arts (SCCM), the visit brought together 20 students and 4 lecturers for an immersive dive into the world of artificial intelligence, robotics, and extended reality.

Going in, we had no idea what to expect. We were curious, yes—but what we found was beyond anything we imagined. The AiX centre isn’t just a corporate tech hub—it’s a space that bridges art and innovation. From 5G-powered environments to AI-driven tools and virtual simulations, every part of the centre sparked imagination.

One of the most jaw-dropping exhibits for me was the Extended Reality (XR) experience. Immersing myself in those environments made me realize how far technology has come—and how deeply it will transform the way we interact with space, people, and ideas. Then came the moment I met AI-RA, the world’s first AI digital human. Her realistic expressions and interaction felt both thrilling and surreal. We’ve reached a point where the line between human and machine is...blurring.

Interacting with autonomous robots was another standout moment. Watching them move, respond, and function independently was equal parts exciting and a little eerie. It reminded us of how fast we’re advancing—and raised important questions about where humanity fits in this accelerated future.

As Vice President of DICE Club, this experience fueled a deeper commitment in me: to provide more students with access to hands-on learning, real-world exposure, and the tools to bring their tech-driven ideas to life. We don’t just want to talk about the future—we want to build it.

The visit also opened new doors. We connected with CelcomDigi team members who were not only insightful but genuinely interested in future collaboration. I’m hopeful that this could lead to projects that bridge our classroom creativity with industry realities.

Of all the experiences, the one that stayed with me the most was that first interaction with the robots. It was more than a demo—it was a moment of reflection. It made me think about the ethics, possibilities, and responsibilities that come with the technologies we’re building.

I’ve captured some amazing photos from the visit that reflect the energy, inspiration, and futuristic feel of the day. I’ll be sharing them here and on social media to give you a closer look at what it’s like to witness the future in real time.

If you're curious about where tech and creativity meet, or if you’d like to connect over shared interests in AI, design, or student innovation, feel free to reach out. You can find more highlights and photos from the visit on my Instagram or connect with me on LinkedIn.

Let’s keep exploring, building, and learning together—because the future isn’t just coming. It’s already here.
