Jingle Mingle 2024

On November 30, 2024, the School of Creative Media and Arts (SCCM) at UOW Malaysia transformed into a buzzing hub of creativity, conversation, and connection. Hosted by DICE Club, Jingle Mingle 2024 welcomed students, alumni, industry professionals, and guests from other universities for an end-of-year celebration that was as enriching as it was energizing.

The event was far more than a festive gathering. It was a curated experience—designed to bridge academia and industry, to spotlight student creativity, and to offer real-world guidance through direct interaction with professionals. It was a celebration, yes, but also a space of learning, networking, and growth.

One of the standout moments of the day was the alumni speaker session. Hearing from four inspiring graduates, including Jon, Adri, and Chui Teng, was both grounding and eye-opening. They generously shared their career journeys and personal stories, giving us honest advice about navigating the creative field after graduation. Their words reminded us that success doesn’t follow a straight line—and that staying curious and passionate is what keeps you going.

For many final-year students, the most valuable part of the event was the portfolio review and mock interview session. With direct input from real studio reps and creative professionals, students got to experience what industry expectations feel like firsthand. It was hands-on, sometimes nerve-wracking, but absolutely rewarding. These one-on-one reviews helped clarify not only how to present creative work, but how to talk about it with confidence.

The project and game showcase floor was a creative explosion—students displayed everything from polished capstone projects to interactive indie games and digital artwork. There was constant energy, with attendees exploring, playing, and asking questions. What stood out most was the collaboration across programs and disciplines. It wasn’t just about showing off—it was about learning from each other.

Networking happened organically throughout the day. You’d see students chatting with recruiters, alumni reconnecting with old friends, and professionals deep in conversation with new talent. That kind of connection doesn’t always happen in a classroom—it happens in shared moments, in spontaneous conversations, and Jingle Mingle made space for all of it.

A big shoutout goes to the amazing photographers from UBDP who captured every candid, energetic, and emotional moment. Their visuals tell the story of the day better than words ever could.

But what truly made Jingle Mingle 2024 special was the atmosphere of warmth and inclusion. Students from other universities were welcomed like family, and the DICE Club team worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure every detail—from signage to sound—ran smoothly. It felt like we were all part of something bigger than ourselves.

Jingle Mingle 2024 wasn’t just a celebration—it was a reminder of what the creative community is all about. Connection. Support. Growth. And I can’t wait to see how we all carry this energy forward into the next year.
